TimelapseLab and the digital transformation on Italian newspaper

Il Sole 24 ore, an important Italian newspaper dedicates an article to TimelapseLab in the collaborative industry section on 6 April 2023.

The column is about digital transformation professionals dedicated to improving the efficiency and quality of products and processes for companies in all sectors.
At TimelapseLab, we design and manufacture high-quality devices that photograph the construction site at pre-set time intervals. The devices are equipped with in-house developed obfuscation software which ensures that tracking is privacy compliant, in fact we have achieved ISDP©10003:2020 certification. The devices are also paired with a platform with AI-powered features, enabling digitization. All devices are plug and play, easy to install and resist any type of weather or adverse conditions and do not require assistance.

The activities that we digitize range from security checks (AI detection of mission PPE, detection of equipment on site), to work progress control. We also want to improve workflows. With our system, all team members can communicate, having a a detailed picture from the site immediately available with a click. Our platform integrates the most used software by companies around the world to help this process. The platform can also take care of image certification, automatic marketing videos and periodic reports. A complete solution that improves the work of many business areas.

Communicating the possibilities that technology offers is essential for modernizing the construction sector, and we are therefore very grateful to the Il Sole 24 Ore masthead for the possibility of coming into contact with a vast public.

Here is the article from the editorial team of Il Sole 24 Ore:

Remote Construction Site Monitoring: A Plug & Play and Privacy-Compliant Solution

TimelapseLab manufactures industrial devices and corresponding software for remote construction site monitoring. In addition, it offers a variety of services, including alerts for missing personal protective equipment (PPE) and automatic timelapse videos.

A construction site of any size and complexity can be remotely monitored with certified photographs, immediately stored on company servers, and capable of documenting the entire history of the site. Connected to this monitoring system are various services: alerts to supervisors in case of anomalies, such as the presence of individuals without the required protective equipment; real-time blurring of sensitive data; detection of types of machinery present on the site; integration with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and several other tailor-made solutions. All aspects comply with privacy regulations, including GDPR and Article 4 of the Workers’ Statute.

TimelapseLab, the start-up led by engineer Damiano Bauce, developed these innovative hardware and software solutions, now deployed worldwide, to address market needs. The company has created increasingly cutting-edge solutions, which are now also required in tenders funded by PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) funds.

“Take remote construction site monitoring, for example,” explains the computer engineer. “Vlab created the industrial devices for TimelapseLab, both in hardware and software, which are entirely innovative. They are high-performing, easy to install, durable, remotely connected, and maintenance-free. These cameras were designed to take photos at regular intervals and have gradually added additional features useful for various professionals on a construction site, as well as the main investor,” continues the expert. Furthermore, “they ensure monitoring with blurred photographs rather than continuous video — a crucial feature that expands the range of use even where video surveillance is not allowed or possible. Another advantage of photographs over video is that videos are only available for 24-48 hours, while anonymized photos remain stored in company archives indefinitely.”

All artificial intelligence services offered by the start-up are made possible and ensured by the neural network vertically trained by the company. The dedicated web platform allows monitoring of work progress 24/7, automating the work progress reporting procedures. “The project manager can thus be updated in real time on any site — no matter where in the world — saving both time and resources,” says engineer Bauce.

Already widespread across the national market, TimelapseLab’s cameras and services have successfully penetrated about twenty foreign markets, even targeting areas that are not yet economically mature, by company choice. The cameras and the associated services “are the subject of continuous research and implementation, including through technological partnerships that enable integrated solutions with the various applications present on construction sites, such as management systems,” concludes Bauce.
