LEED certification in detail

Based on consensus and applied internationally, LEED is a building certification system that aims to promote and develop a global approach to sustainability, by observing the standards developed by the USGBC. The latter indicate the necessary requirements for the design, construction and management of environmentally sustainable buildings, both from the energy point of view and from the point of view of the consumption of all the environmental resources involved in the construction process. The L.E.E.D. certification is therefore a prestigious document.

L.E.E.D. Certification - The areas

The LEED certification of a building is based on a checklist divided into eight areas. Each of these have their own prerequisites and credits that identify in detail the type of characteristic to be met and the associated score. The L.E.E.D. certification level derives from the sum of the credit scores obtained.

The areas, which are part of the LEED protocol, are:
Location and Transport (LT), Site sustainability (SS), Water Efficiency (WE), Energy and Atmosphere (EA), Materials and Resources (MR), Indoor Environment quality (IEQ), Regional Priority (PR), Innovation (I).
