Sun Princess, the ship commissioned by the shipowning company Princess Cruises to Fincantieri, was launched at the beginning of the year. TimelapseLab devices were also on site to follow the work.

The Sun Princess boasts many achievements: not only is she the largest ship ever built in Italy, but she is also the first ship, built by Fincantieri, to be powered by liquefied natural gas.

The client, a US shipping company owned by Carnival Corporation, is known today as one of the leading cruise lines in the world, with a fleet that transports more than one million passengers every year to destinations all over the world.

Sun Princess - Our Next Generation Cruise Ship Arriving 2024 - Princess Cruises
The Sun Princess built in the Monfalcone shipyard will be able to accommodate up to 4,300 guests in 2,150 cabins. A huge project with its 175,500 gross tonnage and 340 meters in length. On board all the solutions necessary to minimize the environmental impact.

Commitment to the environment drives many of the group’s activities. Fincantieri, in fact, carries out the development of ships powered by methanol, ammonia and hydrogen fuel cells together with research institutions and universities; the Sun Princess, an important step in this process, will be delivered at the beginning of 2024; a sister unit is also planned for the following year.

Timelapselab with its devices follows  the main construction sites of the group in various national offices. In the Monfalcone shipyard, our two fixed devices, the  TLA8 varifocal model, ensure continuous monitoring: we are proud to be able to document this important milestone for the group as well.
