Tigros chooses TimelapseLab for construction-site monitoring

In retail, the opening date does not move, and the entire construction site is organised around that deadline. TimelapseLab is supporting Tigros with the monitoring of its construction site, with a service active for the entire duration of the project.

The installed device is connected to the TimelapseLab cloud platform and captures images at regular intervals. The archive makes it possible to follow the progress of the site without dedicated trips and to extract time-lapse content once the works are complete.

On a project bound by an opening date, frequent checks have a different value from the one they have on a project with flexible deadlines. They are not there to confirm a delay: they are there to spot it early enough to recover it, while the deviation is still a matter of days rather than weeks.

Visual documentation also covers the fit-out phases, when the space turns from a bare structure into a recognisable store. It is the fastest transformation of the whole project and the most effective to showcase, because it makes the result of months of work instantly clear to anyone.

Monitoring of the Tigros site also provides material that can be used beyond the duration of the works. In retail, the opening of a store is an event communicated to the local community, and having a sequence that shows the transformation of the space offers something different from a final photograph: it tells the story of an investment and of the work behind it, not just a result. It is the kind of material that is hard to recover afterwards, once the site no longer exists.

The opening-date constraint also changes the way documentation is used. In the final weeks, attention shifts from individual progress steps to checking that everything is converging towards handover, and being able to compare the status of different areas on the same day makes it immediately clear where to focus the remaining resources. This is an operational use of the archive, distinct from the documentary use that prevails in earlier phases.

Monitoring of the Tigros site documents the construction process through periodic images, distinct from continuous video surveillance, with automatic blurring of faces and number plates in line with a privacy-by-design approach.
