Time-lapse makes it possible to condense months of work into a powerful visual story, and shipbuilding is perhaps the setting where this shows best. TimelapseLab supported Amme by monitoring the shipyard in Serbia.
A device connected to the cloud platform followed the works for the entire duration of the project, capturing images at regular intervals. The sequence shows the hull gradually taking shape: a transformation that, in real time, proceeds in almost imperceptible steps and that, viewed at speed, becomes instantly readable.
For a client following the work from another country, remote access to the images replaces inspection trips and provides time-stamped evidence on which to base reporting. Site monitoring thus becomes a coordination tool as well as a means of documentation.
Serbian river shipbuilding has a well-established industrial tradition along the Danube, and for years it has been a production benchmark for Italian clients. Working remotely on contracts of this kind means managing different time zones, teams that speak different languages and checks that cannot depend on a trip every time. An up-to-date visual archive is the shared foundation that allows all parties to refer to the same state of progress.
The documentation gathered during construction retains its value even after the vessel has been delivered. Images of the structural phases remain available for later inspections, for scheduled maintenance and, when needed, for reconstructing how an element that is no longer accessible once the hull is complete was built.
Once the works are complete, the archive becomes storytelling material. Time-lapse content tells, in just a few minutes, the story of an industrial process that took thousands, in a form that speaks as much to technical specialists as to outside viewers. Monitoring of the shipyard in Serbia was based on periodic images, distinct from video surveillance, with automatic blurring of faces and number plates.
