FINCANTIERI, Monfalcone | TimelapseLab follows the construction of the ultra-luxury ship of MSC – Explora Journeys

TimelapseLab will follow with two TLA8 VF devices the works for the construction of the Explora I ship built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone for the new Explora Journeys brand of MSC. The monitoring will have a total duration of 18 months and the devices will allow you to supervise the activities and adjust the shots, completely remotely and in a few clicks.

MSC has ordered Fincantieri to build four ultra-luxury ships for a unique experience. The boats are part of the new way of doing tourism, introduced with the new luxury brand “Explora Journeys” for the most demanding travelers, with the aim of redefining the cruise experience. The cutting of the Explora I sheet metal, which took place on 10 June 2021 at the Naval Service Center, in San Giorgio di Nogaro (Udine), officially marked the birth of the luxury cruise brand. The ships will have a gross tonnage of 64,000 tons, will be equipped with the latest technologies and will have a capacity of less than one thousand passengers. They will sail to both classic and exclusive destinations, many of which are inhibited by large ships due to the shallow waters, allowing passengers to relax and create unique memories.

On board each ship will have 461 oceanfront suites, with a highly innovative design from the point of view of relaxation and comfort for guests, guaranteeing a view of the sea and the ports thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces. The ship, designed with particular attention to the “water” element to allow guests to live an experience in contact with the sea, will include numerous indoor and outdoor whirlpools along the outdoor promenade. With a commission of 6 ships and a two billion euro investment, the first four ships will be built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone and will enter service between 2023 and 2026.

The monitoring of the Explora I works is a further confirmation of the agreements between Fincantieri and TimelapseLab. The devices and services offered have already been chosen in the past by the Italian company operating in the shipbuilding sector. Remember, for example, the monitoring of the work of Goliath, the largest crane in Europe, built in the port of Marghera and of the construction of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Leonardo Class ship.
